Jeindeer Eyelash Curler review

*
Today I have a truth bomb for you all: I have never used an eyelash curler before (insert gasps and shocks of horror). Maybe I just never saw the point, or they kind of look a bit intimidating, I don't know. I don't really have a proper reason for why I haven't tried them before, but now I have, and today I’m going to talk about the curler I tried.

Jeindeer Eyelash Curler
Jeindeer Eyelash Curler

Jeindeer is a brand that, admittedly, I haven’t heard of before. However, I’m always more than happy to try out new brands, and I was recently contacted to give this Eyelash Curler a whirl, so that I have.

The box states that the design of the curler is targeted towards high performance and its innovative design easily creates a natural curl. The pad is designed to give lashes a sweeping curl rather than a crimped, angled look.

The curler is made of steel and is quite rounded, but still fits quite snuggly around the roots of the lashes. The pads are made of silicone rubber and a spare pad is included within the box.

Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil review

Eyebrows and Benefit are two words that are a match made in heaven. Benefit know brows. They are good with brows. You know that you could walk up to a Benefit counter, sit down, not say a word and know that you will leave with the best brows on road (see my Benefit Brow Bar experience post). So when they released a new range of eyebrow products, beauty fans got excited. Understandably.

Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil
Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil

Today I have one of the new releases to show you all: the Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil. There are so many options from the new Brow Collection range for different types of eyebrows, whether you have sparse brows, shapeless brows, unruly brows, whatever. The Goof Proof Brow Pencil is described as being the best option for patchy brows.

It has a simple to use, non-sharpen tip that comes in a sort of diamond-ish shape (more on that in a minute) and has a creamy, glide-on, waterproof formula for quick and easy eyebrow filling and shaping that also lasts for up to 12 hours. It comes in a range of six shades from the lightest, platinum blonde shades down to the deepest black (the one featured in this post is shade 5). Sounds good, right?

It comes packaged in a super pretty silver, double-ended pencil with the actual product on one end and a spoolie brush on the other, both covered with funky, geometric caps.

Now let's get into how this bad boy actually works.

Best Beauty Products for Oily Skin

Oily skin can be a total pain to deal with. All of the blotting to reduce the shine as well as re-doing melted or caked up makeup can leave you feeling highly frustrated and wishing for a quick and easy fix.

The bad news is that I am not aware of a quick and easy fix (if you know one, please let me know!). The good news though is that over the years I have found some fantastic products that I find really help to curb the levels of oil on the skin, making it far more manageable.

In an effort to help anyone else who struggles with oily skin, I have created a list of both skincare and makeup items that I personally love and use to help keep things under control. Hopefully they will work for you as well as they do for me.

So if you're at the end of your tether with your oily skin, keep reading to find out my best beauty products for oily skin!

Benefit The POREfessional Matte Rescue balm review

*
Visible pores and shine: two things that nobody likes. Well, it's a good job then that we have the product that I'm reviewing today at hand to battle them both!

Benefit POREfessional Matte Rescue

Benefit already have a great reputation when it comes to minimising the look of pores with their silky smooth POREfessional Primer, and also shine with their other matching POREfessional products. Therefore, their new release, The POREfessional Matte Rescue balm, is something that needs some attention.

The invisible-finish, water-based gel promises to instantly minimise the appearance of pores and mattify the skin by absorbing excess oils on the surface. On top of that, it contains diamond powder to create a soft-blur effect.

It comes packaged in a metallic, silver squeezy tube with the trademark POREfessional Special Agent on the front and it holds 50ml of product (the size I have here today is a sample size). The gel itself is a light, icy blue shade.

Benefit They're Real! Tinted Primer review

Do you love having lashes that have a certain va va voom? Me too! That's why I'm super stoked to finally have myself a little sample of Benefit's new They're Real! Tinted Primer to show you all today!

Benefit They're Real! Tinted Primer

This product can be worn in two ways: on its own for natural, defined lashes, or underneath mascara for the lashes you've always wanted, without the help of fake ones.

The primer is a water-resistant, gel formula that is mink brown in colour. It also contains provitamin B5 to nourish and add softness to the lashes!

The brush is thin and almost identical to the They're Real! Mascara wand. The rounded tip allows the brush to reach even the shortest lashes with ease. It is also super flexible, meaning that it moves with your lashes for the perfect application.

Top Beauty Products of 2015

*
So here we are! We have reached the end of 2015, so that means that it is time to discuss what beauty products have impressed us the most this year.

As I did last year, I have compiled a list of products that I have throughout the year and have loved. They may not have been originally released this year, but they were tested and written about on the blog over the course of 2015.

It's been a difficult list to come up with as there are so many stand outs for me, but I've managed to whittle it down into a list of 9 products (including 1 Children's product) for your viewing pleasure.

Don't forget to get down to the end of the list to see what my ultimate top product of 2015 is and to let me know what your favourites are too!

So without any further delay, let's take a look at the list.

Benefit Air Patrol BB Eyelid Primer review

Hi guys! I don't usually post on a Saturday, but I've had a couple of tech issues that have delayed this post. I didn't really want to delay it any further as I have other posts on the way too, so I decided that on a Saturday it would be. Anyway, on with the review!

Benefit Air Patrol BB Eyelid Primer

Benefit’s Air Patrol is described as a BB cream eyelid primer. As well as being an eyelid primer, it colour corrects and helps to protect the lids from smoke, pollutants and sun thanks to its EnviroDefend complex and SPF 20. It also has a CushionCalm tip that is made of silicone and claims to be softer than your pinkie.

So basically, it’s kind of like a combination of their other two eyelid primers, Lemon Aid and Stay Don’t Stray with some extra benefits. Lemon Aid is a colour correcting primer that comes in a creamy compact whereas Stay Don’t Stray is a creamy liquid formula, tinted eye primer. Being a big fan of both of those products, my excitement to try Air Patrol was at a high level. I recently acquired a sample of it and that is what I will be discussing with you today.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara review

Benefit’s new Roller Lash mascara is an ink black, water-resistant, satin finish mascara that provides instant length and curl to even the shortest and straightest of lashes.

Benefit Roller Lash mascara

It contains a Hook & Roll brush that is created to act like a hair roller for eyelashes. The bristles contain little hooks that are placed to grab at the lashes, separate and curl them as the formula sets the curve into place for up to 12 hours.

Benefit Roller Lash mascara

The Roller Lash formula also includes Serin and Pro Vitamin B5 to condition the lashes.

It comes packaged in a sleek, black tube with a baby pink, screw cap lid that is designed to look like a hair roller.

I currently have the sample that was included in my March Birchbox which looks slightly different to the full-size, but if you click here to go to the Benefit website, you can see the proper packaging.

Benefit Big Easy review

Big Easy by Benefit is a complexion perfector that provides light to medium coverage whilst balancing moisture and controlling oil. It comes in a range of six shades from fair to deep beige that also self-adapt to your skin tone, so there are no off-colour shades. It sounds like a BB cream, but it isn’t. It’s bigger than BB cream.

Benefit Big Easy

See, it says so right there!

Along with balancing out the skin, Big Easy applies like a cream but dries like a powder. It also contains SPF 35. Overall, the clue is really in the name. It is designed to make everything easy. Exactly the sort of thing a busy woman really wants for their makeup bag!

I have been eyeing up Big Easy for a while, but I simply hadn’t had the chance to test it out. Now, however, I finally have myself a tube of the stuff in shade 02, Light, and I’m here with a review of it at last!

Benefit’s Big Easy comes packaged in a beige tube that holds 35ml of product. It contains a circus style font for the logo and other circus-y type illustrations to provide the Benefit fun factor that makes their products so recognisable and relatable.

Benefit Gimme Brow review

Benefit's Gimme Brow is an easy to apply, brush-on fibre gel that gives eyebrows volume and definition to create beautiful, fuller brows with the perfect arch. It is long-wearing, water resistant, buildable and natural looking.

The tapered brush allows you to apply the product in precise lines with little effort. It also helps to blend the gel onto the hair and skin to provide you with eyebrows that don't look over-the-top made-up!

It comes packaged in a small tube that holds 3.0g of product and looks like a miniature mascara. It comes in two shades: light/medium and medium/deep. I have dark eyebrows so therefore I purchased medium/deep.

The Best of Birchbox - First half of 2014

We’re already half way through the year. I know, already! Therefore, I decided to take a mid-year look back at what Birchbox UK has had to offer so far in 2014. I could easily be writing this at the end of the year, but due to the difficulty that I have had trying to narrow down this list, I have decided to split it into half year sections!

If you don't know what Birchbox is, then please check out my 'Beauty Boxes' page for a quick explanation!

Due to the fact that Birchbox select what samples each person will be receiving, there are certain products that I never had the chance to test out. This means that those products weren’t really able to be taken into consideration. However, if you received different products that you would classify as being one of the best that you have received this year so far, definitely leave a comment at the end!

In regards to planning out my list, there was only one way that I could really structure it. I have selected my favourite products in the format of a Birchbox: 5 samples and an additional lifestyle extra!

So without further ado, here is my list of ‘The Best of Birchbox 2014 part 1,’ with part 2 coming at the end of the year:

Top 'flu-safe' beauty products for the snotty days!

So you've got the flu. Everything sucks, but you still need to get through your day. The problem is that putting on makeup seems like a waste because your nose is so red and sore, your eyes are puffy and red, you feel like death and you just simply cannot be bothered. What do you do?

Well, hopefully this post will help out in some way!

As you may have noticed, I haven't posted anything in a while. If you follow me on Twitter, then you may have read that I have been down with the flu. However, instead of sulking about it, I have drawn inspiration from it and have come up with this bizarre theme of a post!

I have decided to write up a list that contains my favourite products to use when I'm bunged up! This list contains products that I find don't irritate a snotty nose, or help to disguise any zombie-esque flu-ness!

So without further ado, here is my list of top 'flu-perfect' beauty products!

What's in my Makeup Bag - Casual out and about

I know that a lot of people do these ‘What’s in my handbag/makeup bag’ posts, but what I wanted to show you guys is the makeup that I take with me when I’m going out for the day with my family. This could be out shopping or for lunch - I’m talking casual occasions.

Being a mother, I don’t really have any time during the day for touch ups anymore. Especially when out with my family! In fact, it can be difficult to get through a meal without having to stop every two seconds to either pick up a dollop of food or a toy from the floor or to wipe little mans mouth. My food likes to go cold and then gets eaten quickly in the seconds that I have whilst little man is busy chewing his food before he demands his next spoonful.

Now if you can imagine that (and if you’re a mum I am sure you go through the same!), you can understand why makeup touch ups aren’t really high up on my list of priorities anymore. That is why I love products that last a long time and keep me feeling fresh and on point throughout the day without the use of touch ups.

However, if touch ups are required it means that for me, they have to be as quick and easy as possible. This is why I wanted to share this ‘What’s in my makeup bag’ post - for any mums out there and women who generally don’t have time to touch up, I’d love to compare out and about products!

Here is what I take with me, unceremoniously spread out onto my bed:

Benefit Brow Bar Experience

The Benefit Brow Bar is a service that is available at certain Benefit Cosmetic counters that provides a list of treatments ranging from eyebrow waxing and tinting to chin and upper lip waxing.

Benefit Brow Bar

Over the Easter bank holiday, myself and my sister made a visit to the Brow Bar for an eyebrow wax and tint and I have decided to write about the experience for anybody who is either considering going or who are looking for a fix for their eyebrows (like I was!).

Benefit Brow Bar

The benefits:

Having your eyebrows waxed and tinted means that you won’t only be walking away with AMAZING eyebrows, but you won’t have to spend your own time plucking, shaping or even filling in with an eyebrow pencil. The tint temporarily dyes your eyebrows meaning that the only thing you will need a pencil for is for filling in any last tiny bits. You can still use wax on top of them to hold them in place though!

Along with this, having your eyebrows professionally shaped means that you will have the best arch to suit your face shape and features. It is all worked around opening up your face and enhancing your eyes.

As an extra, having your ‘brows done at the Benefit Brow Bar in your local Debenhams will provide you with a loyalty card. Each visit you make will earn you a stamp and on particular visits you can earn free things! At the end of your card, you get a free deluxe gift from Benefit! You also receive a free wax for your birthday. Good times!

Top 10: Multitasking Beauty Products

Multitasking products are fantastic to have around. Why? They save you money, space and time. What isn't fantastic about that?!

As a mum I especially find multitasking products a godsend. Every penny saved is another penny that I can spend on my son and every second saved is another I can spend with him rather than doing things like moisturising or makeup (which I wait to do later on or not at all if my son needs me, obviously!). Seeing him smile means far more to me than anything else! Alongside that though, some multitaskers that I have used have been better than products with singular usage.

From this, I have decided to write up a list of some of my favourite multitaskers. From skincare to makeup, I've tried to cover everything.

So without further ado, here they are! In no particular order...
