Teabagging in the Bath - An Easy Way to Better Skin and Hair

- This post contains affiliate links. -

Hey guys! Now that the title probably has your attention, you might be wondering where the heck I'm going with this post, but no fear! I'm going to be going back in time a bit to do something that I haven't done on the blog for a while and that is to talk about DIY beauty.

Rose, Chamomile and Lavender

A couple of months ago I was at a festival and whilst I was browsing the local business stands I stumbled across a couple of awesome women selling some herbs and natural homemade beauty items. One of the items for sale was some oat tea bags that can be used in the bath. They were tea bags filled with oats and a variety of flowers; one was oat and lavender, one oat and rose and the other oat and chamomile.

We struck up a conversation about the tea bags and what they can be used for. She explained to me that they're great to be used in the bath; the oats really help to soften your skin, reduce irritation and to even out skin tone. They're great for use on the face and in hair too. The different flowers have different effects also, with lavender being relaxing and perfect for night time alongside being good at boosting the mood and easing tension in the muscles. Rose petals are great for calming skin irritations, hydration and toning and chamomile is fab for soothing the skin and helping to minimise marks.

I bought a bunch of the tea bags and tried one out as soon as I got back. I'm going to be writing about how I found them and also how you can create your own if you're interested at the end of the post.

Ella Mae Snail Slime Shampoo and Snail Slime Regenerating Hair Mask reviews

-This post contains gifted products and affiliate links.-

Hey guys! Snail slime isn't a new beauty trend, but it is one that definitely hasn't vanished off the beauty radar. Whilst it may sound pretty weird and off putting from the name alone, the benefits of snail slime in both skincare and hair care have been well researched. I'll dive into that more in a moment, but allow me a moment to introduce today's snail slime-based review focus: the Ella Mae Snail Slime Shampoo and Snail Slime Regenerating Mask

Ella Mae Snail Slime Shampoo and Snail Slime Regenerating Mask
Ella Mae Snail Slime Shampoo and Snail Slime Regenerating Mask

Ella Mae is a natural and vegan cosmetic brand from France. They currently focus their attention on natural hair care and also natural snail slime skincare. I've been sent the Ella Mae Snail Slime Shampoo and Snail Slime Regenerating Mask to review here on the blog and therefore will be discussing them here with you today!

So what are the benefits of snail slime in cosmetics? Well, snail slime happens to be full of beneficial proteins (including collagen and elastin, among many others) that help to moisturise, nourish, exfoliate, purify, heal, regenerate and that even have antioxidant effects. In relation to hair care, the moisturising compounds of snail slime help to seal the hair which helps to moisturise both the hair and the scalp. It nourishes, soothes and promotes healthy hair growth.

The Ella Mae Snail Slime Shampoo and Snail Slime Regenerating Mask are designed for scalp and hair regeneration. They are sulfate and paraben free, suitable for vegans and natural. They're suitable for all hair types, including curly, oily/itchy and damaged/dry. They helps to seal the hair and protect it from damage, detangle, nourish the scalp and promote healthy hair growth.

The Snail Slime Shampoo comes packaged in a shiny, white, plastic bottle with a sleek gold and black font design alongside the pink Ella Mae logo. It holds 250ml of product and has a push cap to dispense the shampoo, which itself is like a thick, clear gel consistency with a subtle clean, fresh fragrance.

Wicked Gummy Co. Vitamins Range review

- This post contains gifted products and affiliate links. -

Hi guys! I’ve been a bit quiet lately (but most certainly still here), but I’m here today with a whopper of a review discussing 5 different beneficial gummy vitamins for your hair, skin, nails and health. If you’re a regular reader of the blog you may have seen some other posts over the last year or so discussing different hair, nail and skin vitamins, but today we’re definitely taking it up a notch with a whole range to show you. Not only are we talking beauty vitamins, but we’re looking at multivitamins, natural sleep and anxiety/depression aids, probiotics and vitamin D goodness.

Wicked Gummy Co. range
Wicked Gummy Co. range

Wicked Gummy Co. is a new vitamins brand that just hit the market who offer a range of gummy vitamins that are vegan friendly, allergy friendly and contain no added sugar.  The collection includes:

Each of the Wicked Gummy Co. vitamins come in packs of 60 and have a dosage of 2 gummies per day, so one bottle will last 30 days. You can purchase each bottle individually, in special duo packs or as a large bundle. The duo packs and bundles carry a very decent discount.

Wicked Gummy Co. Multivitamin gummies and Vitamin D Sunshine Gummies

The bottles are clear plastic with a black safety screw cap lid. They each have a black sticker wrapped around the bottle with product info. The gummies themselves are all circular and dome shaped except for the Peaceful ZZZZZ gummies which are shaped like bears.

As you may imagine, trying to go into detail about how each kind of vitamin has helped me specifically is going to be difficult when some cross over in regards to what benefits they have. Therefore I am going to discuss the Wicked Gummy Co. range as a group but make some comments about the individual vitamins as we go.

Aphrodite Ultra Ionic 3000 Professional Hair Dryer review

- This post contains gifted products and affiliate links. -

Hey guys! I’ve spoken a little about ion technology on the blog recently with the ION-Sei Electric Toothbrush. Today I’m going to be talking about another ion tech product, but a type of product that you probably already associate with ion tech. Yup, that’s right! We’re getting loud and hairy and we're talking about an ionic hairdryer today.

Aphrodite Ultra Ionic 3000 Professional Hair Dryer
Aphrodite Ultra Ionic 3000 Professional Hair Dryer

The Aphrodite Ultra Ionic 3000 Professional Hair Dryer is designed to use ions to smoothen the hair as it dries, leaving you with silky smooth hair and less frizz.

It has two speeds, three heat settings, three nozzle attachments and 2100W of power. One nozzle is for fast drying, another for straightening and one for setting.

On top of the hairdryer is a small blue diode which creates negative ions that are blown onto the hair. This negatively charges the hair, reducing static and leaving the hair feeling and looking silky smooth.

To help me out with this review I have enlisted my sister. Her hair type is very different to mine and this hairdryer could get a really thorough road-test on her hair. My hair is very fine and lacking volume, but my sisters hair is Afro-Caribbean, so it’s very thick, curly, dry and prone to extreme frizz. Could this finally be the best hairdryer for her thick and curly, frizz-prone hair? Let's find out!

Bouclème Hydrating Hair Cleanser review

- This post contains affiliate links. -

Hey guys! So who is still hunting for that perfect shampoo? One that gives you perfect, healthy hair with a nice shine, body and texture without making it look flat and limp? Or if you have curly hair you’re probably looking for something to tame curls and to take away frizz to leave you with soft, manageable curls, right? Well, let’s check out whether today’s product could be your perfect shampoo.

Bouclème Hydrating Hair Cleanser
Bouclème Hydrating Hair Cleanser

The Bouclème Hydrating Hair Cleanser is a 98% natural, low-poo shampoo that promises to gently cleanse the hair with no harsh chemicals or nasties. It is primarily aimed at those with curly hair, but it is also great for those with fine hair or loose waves, or anybody at all who is looking for a gentle hair cleanser.

The Hydrating Hair Cleanser is free of silicones, sulphates and parabens, but instead it is rammed full of beneficial oils (namely *deep breath*... coconut, mongongo, camellia, seabuckthorn, may chang, grapefruit, mandarin red, sweet orange, bergamot, marjoram sweet, rosemary, spearmint, patchouli, magnolia flower, magnolia leaf, palmarosa, linden, benzoin and castor. And breathe!), antioxidants Vitamins C and E, amino acids and Omega 7 for replenishing moisture and shine as well as repairing sun damaged hair. It also has some sea salt for texture, volume and blood circulation of the scalp.

It comes packaged in a translucent plastic bottle with a simple yet pretty blue sticker around it with the Bouclème logo and product info. The shampoo itself is off-white in colour and a runny consistency. The packaging looks sleek and would look smart in anyone’s bathroom. It comes in 100ml, 300ml and 1 litre sizes.

I got my 100ml bottle from Latest In Beauty who recently had a few Bouclème products available to choose. As of posting they are no longer available, but I have seen this shampoo come back into stock before so it can be worthwhile to check.

Hi guys! When it comes to having clearer skin that has less fine lines, blemishes and other issues, stronger nails that grow faster and shiny, healthy hair, it is wise to think about what we are putting into our bodies as well as onto them. In addition to eating healthily and drinking lots of water, supplements are a great way of getting more of what you need.

There are lots of different types of supplements that come in different forms, such as pills, drinks or gummies. However, there is now a new brand on the block who want to bring you something a little different. Enter: Vitybox.

IVYBEARS Hair Vitamins review

*
Hi guys! Are you struggling with dull, lifeless hair? Hair loss? After the success of my post featuring the Pink Cloud 3-in-1 Collagen Beauty Drink, I knew that I really wanted to discuss more beauty supplements with you all. Today I have a beauty supplement that is designed to give your hair some new life.

IVYBEARS Hair Vitamins are gummy vitamins (or hair gummies) that are designed to improve the strength of hair, boost hair growth and to add a healthy glow. They contain biotin, folic acid, Vitamins C, A, D, E, B-6, B-12 and B-5, zinc, choline, pantothenic acid, iodine and inositol.

They are flavoured with natural ingredients like coconut oil and juice, are vegetarian friendly and come in variants for men and women. Instead of using gelatin (which is made from animals), IVYBEARS use pectin as the base for the vitamins which is made from fruit instead. They are also Halal-certified and gluten free.

In addition to helping to revive your hair, IVYBEARS are also great for your nails.

They‘re shaped like gummy bears and have a beautiful berry flavour to them. It can be really tempting to want to eat the entire pot of them in one go (but please don’t!).

Each pot comes with 60 gummy vitamins, which is one months supply as you need to take two per day. They can be purchased as a one month supply, or as a 3 or 6 month supply at a discount.

AA Skincare Zing Fresh Shampoo Bar review

*
Hey guys! If you suffer from either oily, dry or damaged hair and/or an itchy scalp, then today’s post is definitely for you!

Today I’m going to be reviewing the AA Skincare Zing Fresh Shampoo Bar which is designed for oily, dry or damaged hair with an itchy scalp. It contains Peppermint Oil and Coconut Oil to soothe itchy scalps and to rejuvenate and add softness to the hair.

Each Shampoo Bar is designed to last much longer than a 250ml bottle of shampoo, so it’s cost effective, better for the environment due to no plastic packaging and easier for travelling too as it isn't liquid.

All AA Skincare products are made with natural ingredients and come with no added nasty bits. They are also all cruelty free.

The Zing Fresh Shampoo Bar is a bit like a big green pebble to hold and is 50g, and it comes packaged in a beige AA Skincare cardboard box. It looks like it would smell of citrus, but it smells of peppermint (as you may work out from the inclusion of peppermint oil).

I’ve reviewed a shampoo bar from AA Skincare in the past and I was a big fan. If you have read the review that I wrote about the AA Skincare Twilight Shampoo Bar then you may think that they sound pretty similar. Therefore, I have compiled a bit of info to compare the different products too.

So for this review, I’m going to start by looking at the similarities and differences between the Zing Fresh Shampoo Bar and a couple of others in the range, and then I’ll go into how to use it and the results, ending with information on where to purchase.

Davines Naturaltech Detoxifying Scrub Shampoo review

*
We focus so much on taking care of our skin and we do a whole range of practices using different products, and an example of one technique is exfoliation. Chances are that you already exfoliate your skin, own facial exfoliators, body exfoliators and so on. One of the less common products you hear about though is a hair and scalp exfoliator. Well, they do exist (and in fact, I've already reviewed an exfoliating shampoo before), and today I shall be sharing all you need to know about one that I've been trying out recently.

Davines Naturaltech Detoxifying Scrub Shampoo
Davines Naturaltech Detoxifying Scrub Shampoo

The Davines Naturaltech Detoxifying Scrub Shampoo is a lightly exfoliating, balancing shampoo that contains a hefty dose of antioxidants from the addition of artichoke phytoceuticals, and jojoba oil for shine and moisture. It promises to clarify and remove any product build up from the hair and scalp, thoroughly clean and stimulate the scalp and also rejuvenate, refresh, enhance shine, moisturise, protect from free-radicals and of course, detox the hair and scalp.

It is free from sulfates, and Davines say that the "Naturaltech [range] is a complete program of innovative solutions that target hair and scalp problems while bridging sustainable beauty practices with cutting edge technology."

It comes bottled in a plastic, dark orange/brown bottle with a flip cap lid and it is available in two sizes: 250ml and 1000ml. The shampoo itself is light green in colour with scrubbing beads inside. You could almost mistake it for an exfoliating face wash by sight.

Louise Galvin Sacred Locks Shampoo and Conditioner for Fine Hair reviews

*
Hi guys! If you are a regular reader of the blog then you may be aware that when it comes to haircare, there are certain ingredients that I avoid. Things like silicones and SLS can build up or be harsh on the hair, and even though some may be fine with them, others prefer to avoid them for better hair health. For those who prefer to avoid, there are thankfully products that are available that avoid all of the nasties, and today I will be looking at a couple.

Louise Galvin Sacred Locks Shampoo and Conditioner for Fine Hair
Louise Galvin Sacred Locks Shampoo and Conditioner for Fine Hair

Louise Galvin, British "haircare Queen", is passionate about creating carbon neutral beauty products that are great for your hair as well as the environment. She has released two different hair ranges, the more affordable Natural Locks range and the Sacred Locks range that includes shampoos, conditioners and hair masks. I was recently sent a couple of products from the Sacred Locks range as a gift from Louise Galvin, so I have decided to review them for you all today.

The products that I have to show you are the Sacred Locks Shampoo and Conditioner for Fine Hair. The shampoo is described as a clarifying shampoo that contains mild cleansing agents and citrus oils that keep the hair clean without any silicone build-up or greasiness. The conditioner is described as intensive but light on the hair, leaving it shiny, smooth, with added volume and with no fly-aways.

Both products come packaged in the typical white rectangular bottle as the rest of the Louise Galvin products do (but the Natural Locks range comes in black) with pumps at the top to dispense the product. Each bottle holds 300ml of product.

AA Skincare Twilight Shampoo Bar review

Over the last few posts I've been discussing some winter essentials, and today I'll be focusing on fixing up the issues that winter can cause to your hair and scalp. Dry hair and a flaky scalp can be aggravated by the cold weather, so checking out products that can help to counter these problems are generally a good idea at this time of year.

AA Skincare Twilight Shampoo Bar
AA Skincare Twilight Shampoo Bar

AA Skincare is a brand I've reviewed on the blog before (see AA Skincare posts), but today I shall be discussing one of their many Shampoo Bars, the AA Skincare Twilight Shampoo Bar. The bar is designed to "soothe dry scalps and strengthen hair". Like all other AA Skincare products, it is natural and free from animal testing. It contains peppermint oil to soothe, nettle extract to strengthen and coconut oil to moisturise. In addition, it contains clove and cinnamon oils to promote healthy hair growth. They also add a lovely, warming, winter scent to the bar which just makes it even more perfect for this time of year.

The bar itself is bright pink in colour and round in shape and is designed to last far longer than a regular bottle of shampoo would last. The bar then comes packaged in a small, off white coloured box that is handy to keep hold of to transport it in if you plan on taking your bar away to places with you.

Philip Kingsley Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo review

Let's be honest - no one likes an itchy, flaky scalp. I hate it, I'm sure you hate it, but it can be a pain to fix. This seems to be particularly true if you prefer to avoid certain ingredients in your haircare, such as silicones or SLS. Most mainstream and popular options contain them and for some of us that can cause more bad than it can good.

I've had the issue of an itchy, flaky scalp over the last year or so, and I've (rather literally) been scratching my head wondering if I'll ever find the perfect solution that works best for me. Today I'm going to be writing about a product that I feel is worth giving a thorough discussion about: the Philip Kingsley Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo

Chances are that you have probably heard of Philip Kingsley products already. After all, the company is famous for products such as the Elasticizer, and if you're a beauty box fan then you're likely to have received at least one sample of their products at least once. Therefore, it was a natural option to find myself putting my trust in the hands of the renown haircare company led by the "world's leading expert on hair and scalp care" to try to solve my problem as soon as I discovered that the Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo is free of the majority of ingredients I usually avoid (it is free of SLS and silicones, but does contain fragrance. Full ingredients list further on in the post).

It is a mild formula that promises to clarify and gently cleanse the hair and scalp of flakes and irritation. It is a multi-award winning formula and it doesn't dry out the hair or strip colour.

It comes packaged in a sleek, fat white bottle with a curved flip cap lid. It comes in a range of sizes which makes it great for travelling, salons or if you just prefer buying a massive bottle of shampoo over smaller ones all of the time.

The shampoo itself is like a clear gel, no colours added.

Sacred Soul Holistic Essential Oils reviews

*
Hi guys! I just wanted to start off by apologising for my absence over the last couple of weeks or so. I had some really huge things that I had to deal with, and I just wanted to thank you all for your patience. We’re getting back on track here now though, so I’ll jump straight into the post.

Sacred Soul Holistics Essential Oils: Eucalyptus, Lavender, Peppermint, Ylang-Ylang and Tea Tree
Sacred Soul Holistics Essential Oils: Eucalyptus, Lavender, Peppermint, Ylang-Ylang and Tea Tree

I've written in depth about essential oils in the past and even posted some DIY Beauty posts that use them, but today I’m going to be showing you a range of oils from a brand called Sacred Soul Holistics. They’re a brand with an interesting story, which I’ll get to in a moment, and today I have one of each of the essential oils that they have available: Tea Tree, Lavender, Ylang-Ylang, Eucalyptus and Peppermint.

Each of their oils are certified organic and 100% pure. They are steam extracted and contain no extra chemicals like silicones or parabens. For an oil to be truly effective, they need to be pure, so this is an important thing to keep in mind when purchasing oils and these ones tick the boxes.

From the get go, one of the things I love about Sacred Soul Holistics is their no nonsense, truth telling attitude. On their About Us page you won't be finding any claims to be this or that, but instead you fill find an honest account of how the company came to be: two life-long friends who somehow ended up with a passion for natural living. They took this passion and turned it into a business selling essential oils. No years of experience or fancy job titles to boot, just a passion for the products they sell. And that's great.

From this passion came lots of research and introducing natural remedies to friends and family. I know this is something myself and I'm sure lots of you reading this article have done too. From their research they discovered what I'm sure many of us have encountered; sometimes oils work for one person, but not for another. What they continued to discover, however, was that some oils available on the market are actually full of chemicals, and this is a possible reason for why they don't work. As consumers, this didn't make them happy. This is why they set up Sacred Soul Holistics, for others with an interest in natural remedies to have access to oils that have more chance of success by being pure. No chemical filler, just like the lack of boasting filler on their About Us page.

Don't think that this means that there aren't any experts involved though. Scott and Kristan made sure to seek out expert advice too, and through the combined effort they have created the range that include the five oils that I have to show you all today (the rest of their range is made up of Ear Candles).

So as I mentioned above, today I’m going to be showing you their range of oils. So let’s check them out.

Alfa Italia Liscio Detangling Brush review

*
We've all heard of the Tangle Teezer, but, as I’m sure that you are also aware, it's not the only detangling brush on the market. Today we're going to be looking at a shortlisted brush from the Best Styling Brush category of the Best Beauty Stylist Awards, so if you suffer with knots or are simply after beautiful, sleek, glamourous hair, today's post is for you.

Alfa Italia Luscio Detangling Brush
Alfa Italia Luscio Detangling Brush

Alfa Italia are a brand that are inspired by the icons of Italian style and beauty (think Carla Bruni and Sofia Loren). Each of their products has been created so that you can recreate these styles at home. Their Liscio Detangling Brush is designed to fit into the palm of your hand and comes in a range of three finishes: gold, white gold and rose gold. It promises to glide through the hair with its soft bristles to detangle without tugging or pulling.

It works on both wet or dry hair, and is gentle enough to use on children too. In addition to that, the Liscio Detangling Brush can also be used on extensions and wigs.

I have to say straight up though that whilst this brush looks beautiful in person, it is a total pain to photograph nicely due to the fact that is like a mirror. You guys want to see the brush, not my face looking like I’m playing around in a mirror at a fun fair. Because of that, I do recommend that you check the main website out to see the Alfa Italia brush in all it’s glory.

As well as testing this out on myself, I decided to test it on someone who frequently experiences knots; my daughter. Being a toddler with shoulder length hair, she's always finding ways to accumulate knots galore. Every morning it can be a mission to brush them out to tie her hair up and out of her face as she doesn't like them being de-tangled. I am unable to test it out on wigs or extensions, so if you are here to see how well it works in that area then I sincerely apologise ahead of jumping into the review!

John Masters Organics Lavender Rosemary Shampoo & Citrus Neroli Detangler reviews

Finding the perfect shampoo and conditioner can be hard. We all have different hair types as well as wants and needs for our hair, but today I am reviewing two natural products that just may be ideal for you.

John Masters Organics Lavender Rosemary Shampoo and Citrus Neroli Detangler

John Masters Organics Lavender Rosemary Shampoo contains lavender and rosemary extracts (as you may have guessed from the name) as well as 13 other certified-organic ingredients, amino acids and soy protein to provide you with manageable, smooth hair. It is suitable for all hair types and it also helps the hair "resist the stress of pollution, colouring and styling".

Their Citrus Neroli Detangler, as you may have also guessed, contains citrus oils (such as lemon and grapefruit) and neroli oil as well as 18 other certified-organic ingredients, wheat and soy proteins and borage oil. It is particularly good for fine hair, but is also suitable for all hair types.

Both products are also okay to use on coloured hair and neither are tested on animals. Neither contain any SLS, parabens, artificial fragrances or colours, GMOs, DEAs, MEAs or TEAs.

At the moment I have two travel-sized 30ml bottles, but the Detangler is a product that I have been using for a while, so this isn't my first try with it. The full-sized bottles hold 236ml of product each. The Lavender Rosemary Shampoo is a dark brown in colour whereas the Citrus Neroli Detangler is a pale yellow shade.

Avalon Organics Volumizing Rosemary Conditioner review

If you have fine hair like myself, you will more than likely understand the struggle of trying to find the perfect volumising hair products that work for you. It can also be a little harder if you like to choose particular products that are free of certain ingredients.

Avalon Organics Volumizing Rosemary Conditioner

The Avalon Organics Volumizing Rosemary Conditioner claims to add volume as well as softness and shine to the hair thanks to the blend of rosemary essential oil, quinoa protein, Vitamin E, aloe and calendula.

(Apologies for the big white sticker on the bottle in the photos. I did try to remove it but the security tag underneath wasn't coming off with it and it looked far worse to photograph it with that stuck all over it, so I settled for the lesser of two evils!)

Some of the most attractive things about this product is that it is biodegradable, made of natural, organic ingredients, is vegan friendly, cruelty-free and even the packaging is made up of 100% recycled material. It also free of SLS, parabens, GMOs, harsh preservatives, phthalates and synthetic colours or fragrances. It is good for the environment as well as your hair.

It comes packaged in a dark green, plastic bottle that has a black flip cap (which, as mentioned above, is made up of 100% recycled ingredients) that holds 312g/110z of product (the photo may now or soon to look different from how the bottle looks as it according to the website it is receiving a makeover). The product itself is a thick, white cream.
