Avon mark. 2-in-1 Lip Tattoo Lip Line and Fill Duo review and swatches

Hey guys! I know how much you all love the Avon lipstick posts so today I am bringing the first of two in one week! That’s right! I’ll be featuring two new ranges, starting with one from the Avon mark. brand.

Today I shall be reviewing the new Avon mark. 2-in-1 Lip Tattoo lip line and fill duo. It’s a double sided lip stain pen that has a thin end to use as a lip liner and a thicker end to fill lips with the lip stain.

The lip stain range promises all day wear that lasts as long as you do. Avon also suggest that they will be good for blending to create ombré lip looks.

It comes in a range of 8 shades, but today I only have the one to show you in the shade Make Me Up.

It comes packaged in a thin, black felt tip pen casing with a cap on each end for the pen nibs. It has a little bit more weight than you’d expect, but it’s not heavy to told.

Application and Results:

To apply, you need to begin with the thin, lip liner side to line the lips. Next, swap to the other side to fill in the lips with the thicker side.

This 2-in-1 Lip Tattoo lip stain is incredibly pigmented, so you do need to have a nice and steady hand when lining the lips to prevent any wobbly lines. You do get a few seconds before it dries to quickly fix any minor mistakes, but if you make any bigger mistakes then you may need to get some makeup remover or concealer out to correct it.

As it dries, it does go a little darker than it looks when you first apply it. Therefore, if you’re trying it out to check out the shade, give it a moment to show you a more accurate colour.

It doesn’t have a shiny finish, but it doesn’t have a matte finish either. It has a finish that looks like you have moisturised lips with a sheen.

Once on, it isn’t sticky or uncomfortable to wear at all. In fact, it can be easy to forget that you’re wearing it. It is pretty lightweight and just sets to the lips.

To give this lip stain a thorough test though, I went straight to drinking tea and eating after I applied the 2-in-1 Lip Tattoo to see how heavy duty it really is.

On my mug, there was no transfer initially onto the side when sipping away at all. It took a while of drinking tea for the very middle of the lipstick to start coming off a bit by transferring onto the mug, but it wasn’t any of the visible part of the lipstick that you can see when talking or with your mouth closed. Even after eating, anything visible still hadn’t budged.

To compare properly though, I took two photos. One from after I first applied it, and another after a good few hours of wear, drinking and eating.

Here it is after applying:

And here it is after a few hours with no top ups:

It took seeing the two photos next to each other to see that the colour had faded slightly, but even still, it was going strong.

The downside of this lip stain is one that you may have seen coming: removal. I use oil based makeup removers to remove my makeup, and I still had a tough time removing all of this lip stain. It’s going to take some work as well as maybe a lip scrub at the end of the day to get your lips ready for the next day!

Overall though, I’m incredibly impressed by this lip stain. I remember a few years ago when Avon released their Lip Tint Pen, and whilst it was alright, this one totally blows it out of the water. The 2-in-1 Lip Tattoo is exactly what you want from a lip stain product and at a fantastic price. If you need something heavy duty to get you through the day, I can highly recommend that you check this one out.

I can’t talk for all of the shades from this launch, but I will add that I usually find that the nude shades from new Avon lip releases tend to be the weakest formula wise until the second wave of shades, and the reds and mid range shades usually tend to be the strongest. I really cannot confirm whether this same trend applies to the 2-in-1 Lip Tattoo as it is a different formula to their traditional stick lipsticks or liquid lipsticks that are applied with a wand. I think I need to get my hands on one to give it a proper test before I give you a final verdict there, but for Make Me Up, I can give you a very big pair of thumbs in the upwards position.

The Avon mark. 2-in-1 Lip Tattoo lip line and fill duo is available from campaign 17 in the UK and can be bought online at my Avon store (UK, courier delivery only).
