Alteya Organics Bio Damascena Organic Rose Otto Day Moisturizer, Night Moisturizer and Eye Cream reviews

Hey guys! If you are a regular reader of the blog then you may have seen my last post talking about Lexira, a skincare brand that harnesses Bulgarian Rose Oil for its amazing skincare benefits. At the end of that post I promised a second post featuring another brand that puts Bulgarian rose oil at the core of its products, and today it is here!

Alteya Organics is a natural skincare brand that has beginnings in growing and harvesting roses and lavender flowers in Bulgaria. Over the years this then branched out into utilising the rose flowers for their oil by using them in a skincare range. I won’t go into all the details about the benefits of Bulgarian Rose Oil in this post, but instead I’ll direct you to my Lexira post where I went into more detail about what Bulgarian Rose Oil can be used for.

Alteya Organics provide a wide range of skincare products for all skin types, including baby products. Today I have three products from their Bio Demascena collection to share with you: the Rose Otto Day Moisturizer, Rose Otto Night Moisturizer and Rose Otto Eye Cream.

This range is targeted to those who are looking to fight the first signs of ageing and also for balancing the skin.

The Alteya Organics Bio Damascena Organic Rose Otto Day Moisturizer is a daytime moisturiser that promises to balance and rejuvenate the skin whilst battling the appearance of the first signs of ageing. On top of that, it also helps against protecting the skin against daily environmental stress.

The Alteya Organics Bio Damascena Organic Rose Otto Night Moisturizer is a night cream that provides moisture to the skin whilst helping with the overall skin texture, to repair skin damage from the day, provide nourishment as well as a glow to the skin and to smooth and condition. Like the rest of the range, this is also designed to target the first signs of ageing.

The Alteya Bio Damascena Organic Rose Otto Ageless Eye Cream is an eye cream that is designed to nourish the eye area, preventing dehydration and helping to promote a radiant and more youthful look. It also helps with fine lines around the eyes.

The products are all packaged in black, with black, glass bottles for the day and night moisturisers and a black, plastic jar for the eye cream. Both of the moisturisers are white and average lotion-like in consistency whereas the eye cream is an off white, mousse-esque balm.

As with the Lexira products, I have recruited a couple of family members to test out the products featured in todays review and I have brought their opinions along with my own.

Along with the bright white shade of this moisturiser, the first thing that you notice with it is the beautiful scent. The rose oil really shines through and it smells divine.

When applying, my mum and sister have both said that they felt like the Rose Otto Day Moistuzier didn’t absorb into the skin. They said that you could touch your skin hours later and it would still have some greasiness left behind. However, I haven’t experienced this at all. On my skin it absorbed perfectly well and even balanced out my extremely oily skin.

After a few hours I did get some shine, but it’s also been warmer here lately so that’s kind of a normal reaction with my skin unless I use a lightweight, mattifying moisturiser. Therefore, for oily or combination skin I would say that this may be a better day moisturiser for winter when skin is drier and the weather cooler. I think that for drier skin it could be beneficial all year round.

I didn’t find it to cause or aggravate any blemishes, but it also didn’t do much in regards to healing them either (and neither does it state that it does). Where it does work well though is with fine lines. This Day Lotion does a fab job at plumping the skin and helping to disguise those first signs of ageing whilst evening out the skin tone.

My mum though, already sporting some of those wrinkles that come with the glorious process of ageing, said that this cream didn’t seem to help as much with hers. For wrinkles and more mature skin she was happier with the Lexira Luxurious Day Cream Light Formula as she felt it made more of a difference.

Overall I would say that this is best suited to normal, dry or combination skin who are showing the first signs of ageing, but oily or blemish prone could use it without it causing issues if you keep in mind that whilst it will help with the fine lines, it may not help other said issues of oil or blemishes.

The Rose Otto Night Moisturizer is on a par with the Day Moisturizer appearance, fragrance and application wise, but it does leave the skin looking a little shiny. I’ve said it in numerous reviews before, but I don’t think a night cream leaving the skin looking shiny is a problem at all when you’re simply just putting it on for bed. Also, some of the best night creams I’ve ever used have made the skin shiny but amazing in the morning. This cream is a great night cream in my opinion, but I think it depends on any issues your skin has too.

For clear, dry skin, you can apply a good amount of this and reap some lovely results. Combination skin would probably want to use a little less. Oily skin even less so. The problem is with blemishes. If you have any blemishes you’re probably going to want to use a night cream that helps to heal them, and I don’t feel that this one does. It doesn’t make them worse by any means, but it doesn’t seem to aid with healing either. On clear skin days though this cream has been amazing and comfortable to apply.

My sister did have some issues with this moisturiser though. After a couple of days of use her skin began to react badly in the form of redness and irritation. I think it’s important to note that my sister does have extremely sensitive skin, so whilst she did react to it, she reacts to most skincare products in general. This could act as some kind of indication to anyone else with extremely sensitive skin, so I wanted to add it.

I would say that this is better suited to those with dry, normal or combination skin, but those with oily skin can also use it if they are in need of a moisturiser to help with the first signs of ageing.

What I find interesting about the Rose Otto Eye Cream is that it’s less of a cream and more of a balm. All eye creams I’ve used in the past have been either a cream or a gel, so this is the first that I can think of that is a balm instead.

I’m not sure if I’m going crazy with this, but I swear that when I apply this cream it slightly conceals too. Nothing states that it’s a tinted eye cream, but even when I apply it on the back of my hand it seems to do something. Maybe it’s the colour of the eye creamer maybe I’m seeing things. I did try to get clarification from a few people when testing it on the back of my hand and we were all in agreement that it did look slightly concealed, but maybe we’re all crazy (quite possible).

Even if this eye cream does conceal slightly, I’m not sure that it is the best eye cream for day time if you plan on wearing makeup. Because it’s a balm, eye makeup is likely to smudge underneath it as it has a greasy type feel to it. If you don’t wear makeup then you will be fine, but otherwise I think this is better suited as a night time eye cream.  Alteya Organics also do another eye product which may be better suited to day time wear under makeup, but as I haven’t tried it I can’t confirm that. Instead of a cream, it is a serum.

I must say that I really do love this eye cream. I love the thick balminess to it and a little goes a very long way, but what I love most is how good it is at helping with dark circles, fine lines and puffiness. Its richness means that it is also fantastic if you often get any dry areas around the eyes too (anyone else out there with seasonal allergies and dealing with over-wiping the eyes!?). I highly, highly recommend giving this product a try!

Along with the moisturisers that I’ve tried in this review, I did receive a sample of the Alteya Organics Organic Bulgarian Rose Water Toner Mist. I have been using it as a night time toner and I am in love with it. I used to use rose water as a toner many years ago, but the quality of this in comparison is fantastic.

Out of the products I’ve tried, I do think they’re all great products. However, I think that the Day Lotion may not be as suited to my skin personally as the Lexira Luxurious Day Cream Light Formula, so if you have oily, blemish prone skin or mature skin I would direct you to my previous review on that day cream instead. For drier, normal and combination skin that isn’t prone to blemishes and that is showing the first signs of ageing, I think it’s a great moisturiser.

The night cream and the eye cream both worked great for me and I would say that they’re both well suited to all skin types. My top recommendation from this post would definitely be the eye cream. Whatever your skin type, it is one to give a whirl for sure.

This is a brand that I would definitely try more products from. I love rose oil and I love the ethos behind the company. They have so many products available that I’m already eyeing up, and even if none of the products in this post take your fancy, I do recommend looking up what else they have as I’m sure there’s something for all skincare needs.

You can find all the products featured in this post at Sveti Cosmetics.

What are your thoughts on the Alteya Organics Bio Damascena range? Do any of these products take your fancy?
