Somerset Toiletry Co. Naturally European Freesia & Pear Hand Wash review

- This post contains gifted products and affiliate links. -

Hey guys! Over the last year and a half, we've been living through the Coronavirus pandemic. This has meant that we've had to increase our hand washing amongst a wide range of other precautions and, I don't know about you, but my hands have been getting so dry. I've ended up going through a bunch of different hand washes to find one that doesn't make things worse and today I'm going to be reviewing the Naturally European Freesia & Pear Hand Wash by a brand that I originally wrote about in the early days of the blog; Somerset Toiletry Co..

Somerset Toiletry Co. Naturally European Freesia & Pear Hand Wash
Somerset Toiletry Co. Naturally European Freesia & Pear Hand Wash

Somerset Toiletry Co. is a British company that was founded in 1999 with the goal of providing fairly priced, luxury toiletries. The founders, Roger and Sakina Buoy, originally produced body care products for other companies but decided to develop their own range and the company has been acknowledged for a number of awards, including the Queens Award.

The Naturally European range is the most popular range by the brand and the Naturally European Hand Wash is a luxurious, natural hand wash that is cruelty free and suitable for vegans. It is also SLS and paraben free, making it suitable for those with more sensitive skin (yay!). It comes in a range of scents, but I've only been testing out the Freesia & Pear fragrance.

It comes packaged in a clear, plastic bottle with a black pump lid and it holds 500ml of product. The Hand Wash itself is clear in colour.

O'Keeffe's Skin Repair Body Lotion, Working Hands Hand Cream, Healthy Feet Foot Cream, Cooling Relief Lip Repair and Lip Repair reviews

*
Hey guys! Winter skin getting you down? Fed up of rough hands? Cracked, dry lips? Eczema? Hard, dry skin on your feet? Don’t worry. Today’s post is here to help you with all of the above.

O'Keeffe's Skin Repair Body Lotion, Healthy Feet Foot Cream, Working Hands Hand Cream and Unscented Lip Repair and Protect Lip Balm
O'Keeffe's Skin Repair Body Lotion, Healthy Feet Foot Cream, Working Hands Hand Cream and Unscented Lip Repair and Protect Lip Balm

O’Keeffe’s provide a whole range of body care products that are designed to solve a collection of skincare issues. They have lip balms to heal up extremely dry and cracked lips, a foot cream to heal and moisturise hard skin on the feet, a hand cream to banish the rough and painful skin on your hands and a body lotion to conquer eczema, itching skin and extra dry patches. All of this at nice and affordable prices. Sounds great, right?

They started creating these products back in 1990 when Tara O’Keeffe saw the discomfort her father, Bill O'Keeffe, was in with his dry skin that was caused by rigorous, hard work. She managed to use her skills as a pharmacist alongside her father’s help to create a cream that worked for him, and this became the Working Hands Hand Cream reviewed here today.

From there, they went on to include the rest of the range of products that will be shown in this post over the years.

They’re all packaged in brightly coloured bottles, a different colour for each product and some of the products are available in different sizes.

Crabtree & Evelyn Goatmilk & Oat Bath Milk, Citron & Coriander Body Wash and Evelyn Rose Hand Therapy reviews

*
Hey guys! Just before the new year I wrote a post featuring Top Beauty Tips for 2018, and one of those tips was contributed by Jamie Rockers from Crabtree & Evelyn. So, when Crabtree & Evelyn recently sent out a press release discussing the New Year of You, it was naturally a great follow on from that post to feature a couple of the products that they had to showcase to help introduce you to some new, rejuvenating skincare products in 2018. Additionally, as we have just had Valentines Day, I also have a product to show you that is based on the world's most romantic flower, the rose.

Crabtree & Evelyn Evelyn Rose Hand Therapy, Citron & Coriander Body Wash and Goatsmilk & Oat Bath Milk

The three products that I have to discuss with you all are the Goatmilk & Oat Bath Milk and Citron & Coriander Body Wash that were featured in the New Year New You statement and the Evelyn Rose Hand Therapy cream for Valentines Day.

As I did with my previous post featuring the PrimaLash lashes, I shall discuss each product in more detail in their own sections to avoid confusion.

Crabtree & Evelyn Pomegranate & Argan Oil Nutri-Oil and Rosewater & Pink Peppercorn Soap reviews

*
Hi guys! I'm back! I'll start off briefly with an apology for taking longer than I expected to be posting again. I've been writing this post up but then as I was about to post - bam - sickness bug. It's that time of year, isn't it? It hits autumn, kids go back to school and then everyone is catching everything. It leaves me longing for those happy and lazy summer evenings again, so it's only fitting that the products I'm going to be chatting about today make me think of just that.

Crabtree & Evelyn Rosewater & Pink Peppercorn Soap and Pomegranate & Argan Oil Nutri-Oil
Crabtree & Evelyn Rosewater & Pink Peppercorn Soap and Pomegranate & Argan Oil Nutri-Oil

The Crabtree & Evelyn Pomegranate & Argan Oil Nutri-Oil and the Rosewater & Pink Peppercorn Soap are two of their newer products that I've been testing out whilst on break from posting.

The Pomegranate & Argan Oil Nutri-Oil is one of those multi-tasking products that I love trying out. It can be used on the face, body or hair to moisturise, hydrate, soften and to add a beautiful scent to the skin and/or hair. It contains notes of pomegranate, orange, sweet fig, black pepper and ginger, so you could almost see this as a fragrance as well as a skincare product.

The Rosewater & Pink Peppercorn Soap is a naturally deodorising, vegetable-based soap bar that contains Shea Butter and Apricot Kernel Oil to hydrate and soften and rosewater, spicy peppercorn, patchouli and akigalawood to fragrance.

I'll begin by looking more in depth at the Pomegranate & Argan Oil Nutri-Oil and then the Rosewater and Pink Peppercorn Soap. Info on where to purchase both of the items can be found at the end of the post.

I've written about a number of multi-tasking oils - specifically argan oil - in the past. This one, however, is slightly different from those. Out of all the oils I have written about, I would say it is closest in product type to The Body Shop Beautifying Oils, but with one fantastic difference: the sprayer.

This oil comes packaged in a glass bottle with a metal spray cap. This means there is no pouring out of the oil onto the hands to massage it into the skin, and instead you can spray it onto the body or hair with a light mist, applying more if necessary rather than applying too much and not being able to do anything about it. If you are a fan of the spray bottle Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse oil, then this is likely to be right up your street.

As explained in the intro, this can be used in different ways. It can be used on the body, on the face or hair. However, as my hair goes greasy very easily and my skin is incredibly oily (even though oil on oily skin isn't necessarily a bad thing!), I have been sticking to using this as a body oil and boy, do I love it.

When using on the body, I find that it's best to use on damp skin straight out of the bath/shower. This means that the oil spreads easier over the skin and in turn you can use less product at a time. It also absorbs a little easier too.

So straight out of the bath/shower you spray this on and massage in, and the first thing you will notice is that beeaaaautiful smell. And you know what? The smell lasts. For example, I have put this on before bed and I have woken up with the scent still going strong on my skin. This type of thing excites me because it opens up so many potentials for scent layering with your favourite perfumes, or it can even be used to fragrance the skin without the need for perfume if you prefer.

Hydration wise, I find that this oil does a great job at keeping the skin soft and smooth with a subtle glow. If you prefer more of a glow on the skin, you can apply more oil to build it up, but if you prefer just a slight glow, you can do that too! If you have super dry skin you will likely be layering this with a stronger body lotion on top, or you can always apply extra oil throughout the day to keep the skin feeling moisturised.

Another bonus with this oil is that is doesn't leave the skin feeling greasy. It absorbs quickly and you're left with no greasiness on the skin at all.

Overall, I am adoring this oil. A serious amount. It's so easy to simply spray on post bath/shower, massage in and go. Not only that, but the scent is so easy to wear. It isn't heavy, it's inoffensive and, like Crabtree & Evelyn say on the packaging, it takes you back to those happy and lazy summer evenings. Perfect.

Rosewater & Pink Peppercorn Soap

The Rosewater & Pink Peppercorn Soap is described by Crabtree & Evelyn as a hand soap, but to test it out I also used it as a body wash. I did this because the packaging states that it leaves the skin with a natural and dewy glow, but this seems like something you'd be more expecting to see on the body rather than the hands. Either way, it confused me a tad, so I went along with hey, soap is soap. Let's try both.

As with the oil, and all other Crabtree & Evelyn products, the first thing that you notice with this soap is the gorgeous fragrance that it carries. Actually, that was a lie. If it is the first time that you use it then the first thing you notice is that super pretty packaging. Just look how cute it is!

Moving on though, this soap lathers up so easily, so you won't need to be using too much at a time with it. It spreads easily across the skin and leaves it feeling incredibly clean yet not dried out, which is good news if you suffer from dry skin.

I find that it leaves the skin smelling nice for quite a while after use, so that makes it quite good to use as a bodywash if you want to. Crabtree & Evelyn actually recommend using this as part of a three-step hand care routine, beginning with their Hand Recovery scrub to exfoliate the hands, then the soap, and then follow it up with some of their Hand Therapy cream to moisturise. I have previously reviewed their La Source Hand Recovery and Hand Therapy products, so I tried out this routine myself.

The three-step routine does indeed leave your hands feeling possibly the softest they have ever felt, so I really do recommend trying it out if you like to keep your hands feeling soft and smooth.

Overall, I do like this soap. It leaves the skin feeling clean and nicely fragranced without leaving it dry after use, and that is the most important thing when trying out any new bar of soap in my opinion. It ticks the boxes and it works great as part of the three-step routine with other Crabtree & Evelyn products.

I think that they're both great new additions to the Crabtree family of products, and out of the two I would highly recommend checking out the Pomegranate & Argan Oil Nutri-Oil. I am seriously in love with it!

You can purchase both products from Crabtree & Evelyn.

What are your thoughts on the Crabtree & Evelyn Pomegranate & Argan Oil Nutri-Oil and Rosewater & Pink Peppercorn Soap? What Crabtree & Evelyn product is your fave?

Crabtree & Evelyn La Source collection review

*
So I'm not sure if you've noticed, but the weather is starting to get a bit warmer again. This tends to make me a little excited, how about you? It's definitely inspired me to write about a collection that screams summer.

Crabtree & Evelyn La Source
Crabtree & Evelyn La Source

Crabtree & Evelyn have recently re-formulated products within their sea-inspired, La Source range. This re-formulation sees the introduction of four new marine blends that each contain the new “hero ingredient”, Green Seaweed Extract. In each, the Green Seaweed Extract is combined with a specific Marine-Based ingredient to “boost skin benefits”.

The four blends are:

Refreshing Marine Blend - this blend includes Brown Algae Extract in addition to the Green Seaweed Extract. It provides moisturising, cleansing and purifying actions.

Hydra Marine Blend - Blue Sea Lavender Extract works alongside the Green Seaweed Extract in this blend for a nourishing and purifying effect.

Restorative Marine Blend - Red Sea Algae Extract and Green Seaweed Extract make up this blend that is designed to be protective on the skin.

Rejuvenating Marine Blend - Sea Fennel Extract combines with the Green Seaweed Extract in this final blend that lives up to its name, acting as a rejuvenating combination.

They have also introduced two brand-new products to the range: the Eau de La Source EDT
and the Hydra Marine Nourishing Oil. Today I have three products from the collection to show you, including the new Eau de La Source EDT. Alongside that, I have the Miracle Moisturising Hand Scrub and the Overnight Hand Therapy Cream.

I'll go more in depth on each of the items below rather than here, and review them at the same time. You can also find information about where to purchase any of the La Source items spoken about within this post at the end.

Louise Galvin Sacred Skin Hand & Body Lotion review

By now it's no secret that I love a multitasking product that is quick and simple to use. I also love great skincare products, and when these things are all ticked off at once I know it's usually something worth talking about.

Louise Galvin Sacred Skin Hand & Body Lotion
Louise Galvin Sacred Skin Hand & Body Lotion

Whilst Louise Galvin is probably better known for her haircare products, today I'm reviewing the Sacred Skin Hand and Body Lotion, a moisturiser that promises to leave the skin silky soft and smooth whilst keeping the skin's natural moisture balance in check.

It contains avocado oil and almond oil to soothe and moisturise dry skin while being gentle enough for sensitive skin. It is also a natural product that is free of SLS, silicones, petrochemicals, parabens, polymers and synthetic fragrances. Louise Galvin products are also cruelty free.

It comes packaged in a white, rectangular bottle that holds 300ml of product with a pump lid for easy dispensing. The lotion itself is white in colour also.

Humble Hand Wash & Hand Lotion reviews

"I've looked everywhere for a range of products that are natural and biodegradable, but, just as importantly, look, smell and feel wonderful to use. I drew a blank so I decided to develop a range of products myself. It's been a challenge but I am delighted to now be launching the Humble Natural Beauty Range. I wanted to give people the chance to spoil themselves without spoiling the environment" - Kate Humble. Founder, Humble

I was trying to think of a way to start this post when I read the above quote by writer and broadcaster Kate Humble. I think that it is a great little intro into the ideas behind the brand that I'm writing about today and what to expect from them.

With that said, I do in fact have two products from the range to discuss with you today.

Humble Hand Wash and Hand Lotion

The Humble Hand Wash and Hand Lotion, just like the rest of the range, are eco-friendly and come free of SLS and parabens and all ingredients are sustainably sourced and selected to minimise the impact on waterways wherever possible. They come in two different scents, Sweet Pea and Verbena and Rose and Frankincense.

I have bottles from the Sweet Pea and Verbena scent collection that I have been testing out to give you all some feedback today!

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream

Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream is a 100% natural, intensively moisturising and nourishing cream for your cuticles and nails. It is enriched with a drop of Lemon Oil which not only makes your nails look clean, but also smell clean. In addition to lemon oil, this balm includes a range of other oils, extracts, butters and wax.

I have mentioned this cream on a couple of posts, so I figured that it was about time to write a proper post for my trusty cuticle cream. A whole post, especially for my Burt’s Bees Cuticle Cream!

The main ingredient in this cream is the Lemon Oil. This oil has astringent qualities that cleans up cuticles and nails by clearing away dirt leaving happy and soft cuticles behind! It also smells rather beautiful and fresh.
