Avon mark. Liquid Lip Lacquer Matte Shimmer Shades review & swatches

So if there is any one thing that I’ve learned since I began blogging, it’s that you guys love checking out new lipsticks coming from Avon. It’s all good, I get excited about lipstick too, so that’s why today I’m going to be showing you the three new Avon mark. Liquid Lip Lacquer Matte Shimmer Shades!

I wrote about the Avon mark. Liquid Lip Lacquer Matte & Shine shades a short while ago, and it hasn’t taken Avon long to add some new additions to the collection. This time they are only adding three new shades, but they are rather pretty and they are definitely different to the original shades as they are matte shimmers/metallics.

There is no difference to the packaging or descriptions so I won’t go into too much depth here. Instead I will link you to the original post again for you to read about the collection, formulas etc to save me having to repeat myself.

What I will do is jump right on in to the swatches and then I will discuss any differences of how well they work etc in comparison to the originals afterwards. I do apologies for my slightly dry lips in the following swatches, I currently have a cold so not much I could do sadly!

Let’s take a look!

Mystique

A beautiful deep red-brown with silver shimmer.  This is a very wearable shade in the colder seasons and I like it a lot. Goes on slightly sheer so there may be a little streaking.

Kissy Face

Quite sheer but also almost pearlescent in a way. Very pretty pink, easy to wear. Not sure if it’s really sheer enough for layering on top of other shades, but could be worth having a play with to see what kind of thing you can create.

Rock Star

This shade is a rather vibrant orange red, but the vibrancy and the orange was hard to photograph, so it looks more rosey and tame in the swatch. It’s very bright, but also wearable, also slightly sheer.

I have to say, all three of these shades are incredibly decent. There were a couple that I wasn’t keen on formula wise in the original release, but not with these.

They are fairly easy to work with but take a bit of time to apply decently. As with the others I don’t recommend using the provided applicator for the whole thing. To apply these I began with using a lip brush to outline my lips like lip liner with the lipstick, and then the Avon applicator to add some colour to the rest, going back in again with my lip brush to smooth out any obvious streaks etc.

I have noticed a trend with Avon lipsticks. I usually find that when they first release a new range, there are a mix of hits and misses. When they release further additions to the range in the future, they tend to be as good, if not better, than the best from the original release. They do seem to pay attention to which formulas are best and work with them.

The reviews of the Avon mark. Liquid Lip Lacquers in general have been a bit mixed, but I don’t think that the collection is all bad. As I said above, there are hits and misses with the collection where the good ones are pretty darn good, and the bad ones you’ll be wiping off before anyone sees you. The issue with them for me is mainly the longevity, as the shine ones in particular don’t last anywhere near as long as they are advertised to. The matte ones have better longevity, but not necessarily as much as you can get from other brands. I don’t think that means that you should totally rule them out though as for the price you can find some nice lip products here that aren’t going to break the bank, and the three new shades are three of the better ones out of the range as a whole.

If you are after longevity though, the original Avon Matte Lipsticks are definitely worth checking out. I have so many of them and they perform so well in comparison to more expensive brands. The Liquid Lip Lacquer Matte shades are bold and vibrant and worth trying, especially if you do prefer liquid lipsticks. As long as you don’t go in expecting them to last all day and you choose the right colours, then you have a higher likelihood of enjoying the product.

If I have to choose a favourite from the three new shades, I think I would say Mystique. It’s perfect for this time of year and looks great on in person!

If you’d like to try the new Avon mark. Liquid Lip Lacquer Matte Shimmer Shades, they will be available from Campaign 2 on my Online Avon Store (UK, courier delivery only) or from your local Avon rep.
