Avon True Colour Supreme Nourishing Lipstick review & swatches

So the year is nearly over, and even though 2016 will likely go down in history as a generally dreadful year, it is bringing us this brand new lipstick collection from Avon to perk us up. And yes, I have swatches of every shade! Shall we have a look, then?

The new Avon True Colour Supreme Nourishing Lipstick collection is a range of shades that promise to provide up to 8 hours of colour that stays true, as well the ability to quench dry lips with it's jojoba oil infused formula for intense moisture. Avon also say that this lipstick will glide onto the lips easily and it also contains SPF15 for that important protection from the sun.

It comes in a range of 12 shades that include reds, nudes, purples and pinks and each one has a beautiful swirling pattern down the length of the lipstick itself.

Each of them come packaged in a typical Avon lipstick tube that is sleek, black and oblong in shape with rounded corners. Instead of silver, the Avon logo is written on a rose gold band around the middle and the inside of the tube that holds the product is also rose gold in hue as well.

Application and Results:

Before we get into the swatches of each shade, there are a few observations about the collection as a whole that I wanted to discuss first.

Firstly, each of them feel really nice during application. They all simply melt onto the lips and feel smooth. There are a couple of shades that apply a little streakily (namely the light-coloured shimmery shades), but generally they blend out pretty well. Some may need a couple of coats for the most opaque finish, but the most opaque of the collection tend to have a strong chemical scent.

Each of them have a fruity scent added to the formula and all of them are pretty hydrating. The sheerer the shade, the lighter they are on the lips and they tend to feel more along the lines of lip balm rather than lipstick.

Each of them have a decent wear time of a couple-few hours with the more pigmented wearing slightly longer than the sheerer shades. The most pigmented ones also have a higher level of transfer.

With no further ado though, here are the shades in all of their glory:

Loving Lilac

Loving Lilac is a pretty, shimmery lilac colour (or a blueish pink) but is sheer on the lips. It also settles into creases a bit and applies a tad streaky.

Perfect Pink

Perfect Pink a little streaky also, but not as much as Loving Lilac. It is another shimmering shade but is warmer than Loving Lilac and less sheer.

Smooth Mocha

Smooth Mocha is a creamy mocha shade that isn't as dark on the lips as it is in the tube. It applies well and is easy to get a smooth finish.

Revitalising Raspberry

Revitalising Raspberry is a creamy raspberry shade. This also applies well and the colour is pretty true to the tube. It's a nice day time shade for spring/summer

Sumptuous Berry

Sumptuous Berry is another shimmering shade, this time in dark plum. It is noticeably less sheer than the previous shimmers, but still not fully opaque.

Red Creme

Red Cream is a bold red with blue undertones. It has a much stronger scent than the others, a kind of chemical type of scent. With that said, this shade is also the best formula. It's so pigmented and it applies close to fully opaque with one stroke across the lips.

Nourishing Pink

Nourishing Pink is a dark purple-pink cream shade. It has a slight chemical scent like Red Creme, but less noticeable. The pigmentation of this is also great, but not quite as opaque as Red Creme.

Nurturing Nude

The last of the shimmer shades, Nurturing Nude is like a "your lips but better" kind of shade. It's very casual and great for every day wear. Feels light on the lips and the shimmer isn't as noticeable as it is in the other shimmers. Probably the best of the four shimmer shades.

Perfect Plum

Perfect Plum is sort of on a par with Nourishing Pink chemical scent and pigmentation wise. It's a bright purple shade with blue undertones.

Sublime Wine

Sublime Wine is a creamy dark plum with red undertones. Whereas Perfect Plum was on par with Nourishing Pink, Sublime Wine is on par with Red Creme scent and pigmentation wise. Unlike Red Creme though, this seems to apply a little patchy so may need extra attention in certain places to blend out properly.

Conditioning Cherry

Conditioning Cherry is a dark red with blue undertones that is on par with its fellow creamy red of the collection, Red Creme. This is as pigmented and applies as well as Red Creme but also comes with the chemical smell.

And there we have it! All twelve shades of the new Avon True Colour Supreme Nourishing Lipstick collection.

Out of the bunch I'd say that the reds are the best two formula wise, but the chemical scent could be somewhat of a deterrent to a few. The best of the shimmering shades is Nurturing Nude which is noticeably less sheer than the others. It also applies a lot better too.

Overall I think that there is a nice shade selection and I imagine that Avon intend to release more over time. For now though there are shades for all seasons and all skin tones to give a try, and if nothing takes your fancy yet, I'll post when new shades are available in the future.

Each of these lipsticks will be priced at £8 (with frequent offers available on it - at the time of writing it is priced at £5.50 with a free gift if you purchase two items) and can be ordered from the Avon catalogue or online at my Avon store (UK only with courier delivery).

    2. Thanks, I'm going back and fourth between Nurturing Nude shade and Perfect Pink, maybe that is the sign that I need both ;)
